The students interviewed a classmate to learn all about his/her family and favorites, then wrote a biography. They had fun, and I enjoyed reading them! For reading, we discussed how words can show emotions in books. We charted words and phrases in each story we read to practice. The students loved learning about the solar system and had many good questions and interests. I would have liked to spend more than a week on it.
Field Day was a big success! Everyone, teachers included, had a blast. Friendly reminder that I'm scheduled to have my baby next Wednesday, May 17. I'll be at school Monday and Tuesday. The last day of school is next Friday, May 19! It is a half day, so dismissal is 12:30. It's hard to believe the year is almost over. What a wonderful first year. I truly loved teaching and building relationships with each and every one of your kids and will miss them dearly! I hope you all have a great summer. Please keep in touch! For science, students completed animal research. They learned about its features, habitat, food and found great interesting facts. Each group created a poster to present to the class.
We wrapped up our narrative/realistic fiction writing unit. I'm impressed with how much everyone has grown and improved since the start of the school year. I am excited for you to read through your child's writing binder! I plan to send them home soon. Everyone was really looking forward to Fantastic Caverns, and I'm bummed the flooding kept us away! However, the movie turned out great and the kids seemed to have a great time. FYI- all library books need to be returned by Monday, May 15. Field Day is next Thursday, May 11! Our last Tiger Pride is Friday, May 12. Helper/snack list: Mon- Jayce Tues- Anthony Wednesday- Cash Thursday- Brylee Friday- Slayden |
