For Shared Reading, we read books that focused on three lessons—honesty, everyone is different and unique and never give up. For narrative writing, the students are learning about realistic fiction and what makes a quality series—what a fun unit! They developed an adventurous story idea with detailed characters and began book number 1 of their series. I look forward to see what adventure takes place in everyone's next book!
The students enjoyed the mini habitat unit this week! After getting into a group of choice (rainforest, woodlands, ocean, wetlands or desert), they researched on PebbleGo, Kiddle and in non-fiction books. Then, everyone played a part in transferring the research onto a poster and presenting to the class. I was so impressed and proud the entire week watching them work! This is the last month for Book It! If your child reads and records 100 books/chapters by the end of April, he/she gets to eat pizza in the room with me during lunch—my treat! I am gone Monday for our monthly first grade collaboration. Also, friendly reminder that we do not have school next Friday the 14th, but we are in session the following Monday for a snow day makeup. Have a great weekend! Helper/snack list: Mon- Logan Tues- Jayce Wednesday- Anthony Thursday- Cash Friday - No School
