Over the last few weeks, we've discussed Habit 1: Be Proactive. Students learned about responsibility and being in charge of your words and actions. They can tell me ways they are proactive at school or home, as well as point out in a book if a character is being proactive or not.
I am modeling goal setting/tracking. In a couple weeks, students set an academic goal (reading level) and track the lead measure (Raz-Kids, read to self, etc.) they use to meet the goal. I was excited to start guided reading. I love working with small groups and seeing the growth. In topic 2 math, Students are working on doubles facts and counting on. The assessment is next Tuesday. This is reported on the grade card for first quarter. We had fun learning about apples this week. We observed an apple without its peel, and students taste tested juice and cider and graphed the results.
