We practiced using chapters and elaborate illustrations in our next character series books. In shared reading, we focused on the setting and 3 main events of a fiction book.
We learned about and explored habitats. Each group is giving a presentation next week! We are finished with the quarter 4 sight words, so we are revisiting some of the more challenging ones. We had a celebration day in writing to share our first character series books. Some moved on to book number 2. Conventions continues to be big focus. We are editing daily as a class and the students are trying to be aware in their own writing. In shared reading, we focused on lessons and morals from books..

I can't wait for you to read your child's book!
Tracking and setting goals continues to be a daily topic in our class. Students track our reading growth goal lead measure (Listen to Reading 5 days per week), and we celebrate each Friday. They also hold me accountable for my personal goal! :) Everyone is trying to grow his/her own plant in a bag. We started observation journals and should start seeing growth next week! In math, we finished collecting, graphing and analyzing data. The test is graded and in your child's Leadership Portfolio that is coming home today. We made it through all of our 16 math topics, so the remainder of the year is used to practice fact fluency and reteach/reassess. My goal is to reassess students who have below a 3.0 on any standard. We finished the fourths and halves math unit and started collecting, graphing and analyzing data. We started learning about plants this week and continue next week with some fun experiments.
